New Mexico Summits and Passes - Approach Heights

- approach heights are divided into groups of 500 feet
- tabulation order: highest approach group first
- within each group approaches are sorted by average grade
- the first grade figure is average uphill grade. It does not consider drops in elevation
- the second optional grade figure considers drops in elevation, averaging both drops and climb grades.
- both grade figures do not consider elevation differences smaller than 100ft, and underestimate the true climb.
- approach height is the difference between starting point and high point
- each approach may be presented by multiple rows. The difference is the starting point.
- only the highest entry for each approach is linked.
- approach type: L: low point; S: summit  ( or point of highest elevation; not necessarily pass elevation ); W: waypoint ( between summit and low point )
