Kent's Lake Rd s(u)

Kent's Lake Rd is a alternative summit to part of Ut153, up Beaver Canyon. After they have connected they join  to Junction. While Ut153 is largely paved on the west side, Kent's Lake Rd is not. But this is a wide well surfaced all weather road, with better ridable gravel than the large chunky rocks on the east side of Ut153. This is explained by the fact, that much of the area adjoining Kent's Lake Rd is occupied by real estate ventures hidden in the nearby woods.  Ut153 Beaver Canyon s(u)-2 reaches about 250ft higher than Kent's Lake Rd and has much more interesting far views over the top. Both together make a great (partial) gravel ride from the west side. The east side of Ut153 is too deeply graveled for my taste, but these things change over time.

Approaches

From West.
The profile includes the approach on Ut153 from Beaver. The first mile or so, from the signed turnoff to the first campgroind is paved. Even after that the surface remains smooth and hard, for the many residents with their hidden real estate investments in the nearby woods. One campground on a lake seems to follow another. At around 9200ft there is a short section with somewhat rockier surface.

The road keeps on winding through the forest - more lakes - more campgroinds, finally reaching around 10 thousand feet, near yet another area of real estate concentration. You can make out the outline of distant high mountains behind the trees. But the road never reaches a clearing, where you can actually see it.

From East. (described downwards). A short gentle decent leads to the first meadow area on Kent's Lake Rd, immediately before joining back on Ut153. The profile includes its decent to Junction.

A Dayride with this point as intermediate summit is on page: Beaver Canyon s(u)
